   Agus tá ’fhios sin ag mo chómharsa,
   Is ioma sin tala a threabh mé ariamh
   Agus níor chaill mé leis mo shlainte.
   Bhainfinn-se féar i n-íochtar gort,
   Dhinfinn cruach agus stáca,
   Dhamhsóinn ríl lé stór mo chroi
   Ar thaobh na Carraige Báine.

   I'd spread my mantle for you, young man,
   If it was but the breadth of a farthing,
