    houses the fire place was near the wall.
    Some chimneys were made of sticks and more were made of mortor and stones. There were some houses that had no chimney at all.
    There were some houses with no glass in the windows instead they were packed with straw. Half doors were very common in the district. Turf and wood were formerly used. Bog-deal and rushes were used for light. Candles were made locally of tallow.
