    went to give them the coal they shot him. His wife looked out the window and said I know you all well. They went a short distance and they came back again and killed his wife and all the family except one boy that was so frightened when he saw his father shot he hid in a loft in the kitchen.
    Next morning a neighbouring woman called in for a pair of wool cards and when she saw the awful scene she informed the police. They came and it was then they found the little boy in the loft. His name was Patrick Joyce.
