- Tom Byrne in Ballyhaunis used to make nails long ago. He was always known as Tom the Nailer.
The men made their own whips too long ago. The handle was usually made of ash, and the thong was made of leather strands plaited together in a very intricate pattern.
In Greenwood long ago they used to make bricks. The place where they got the clay is still called the Thounachs and is in Mr Patrick Grogan's land.
