    James Murray who was a national teacher in Coogue and is now fifteen years dead was the best jumper in the district. He jumped over a horse that was fifteen hands high, but he was getting old at the time and that jump injured his health.
    Martin Comber of Larganboy was a great storyteller, and he was a great favourite with the young folk, especially the boys on account of his storytelling. It would be God help the house in which Martin Comber and his listeners met for the night and many a jolly night was spent listening to his stories until the daylight came in the
