- In olden times the people made a lot of boxty bread. This is the way they made it. First they got a piece of tin and they made holes in it with a nail. Then they got some raw potatoes and washed them, then they scraped them into a bowl or a basin. Next they got some cold poatoes and mixed them with the pulp of the raw potatoes. When they had it mixed they put a grain of salt and flour and mixed them together into a hard cake and baked it in the pan.
