    teach it. The subjects taught were Arithmetic, English Reading, Writing, Grammar and Geography.
    The only means for writing was a slate and a slate pencil. Sometimes a pen made from a quill, or a tin was used but that was very seldom.
    Most of the time was spent in reading.
    He also taught a little at night. The subjects then were Irish and Catechism, the latter being taught through Irish. The way he taught it was by word of mouth for there were no Irish Catechisms
