- The Leipreachan or MermaidMermaids are seen only on the sea. They appear to people when ships or people are to be drowned. Their shape is half a woman, and half a fish.
The Leipreachan is a tiny man, which is seen only in the night, repairing shoes for the fairies. Shoemaking is his trade, and he stops in the woods.
People saw him long ago, but nobody sees him nowadays. He is dressed in red clothes, and he wears a red cap on his head. He keeps a pot of gold, and any person that catches him he would give them the gold.Sean Mac Domhnaill- Collector
