- Once upon a time there dwelt a giant in Ardnaree. There were three rocks on Palmyra hill and these three rocks had to be removed to Primrose hill. So this giant, in order to show his strength, put one rock in each of his waistcoat pockets and the other on his head. The first step he took was across the canal, and the second step he landed at the railway station and the third he landed on Primrose hill. He laid down the three rocks in remembrance of his strength. Some time after this, he died and he was buried under it, and up to this present day the rocks are still to be seen.
