- Once upon a time there lived a chieftain who had one beautiful daughter named Eily. The child's mother died when it was an infant, and the chieftain had to marry the daughter of a powerful chieftain of the south. This woman was a witch, and she hated the child.
However, the chieftain died when Eily was ten years old. Then she was left in the hands of the witch. The witch turned her into a white hare, and told her she would have to remain so until a hunter from Tirawley would fix his spear in the witch's own grave.(continues on next page)- Collector
