    with big flags.
    The thatch was got from straw and sometimes rushes were used which are got in bogs and marshy places.
    The flags were cut out of flat rocks at the sea.
    There was a bed in the kitchen in every country house long ago. This bed was placed in a hole in the wall shaped much like the bed a few feet from the fire.
    The only name given to it was the kitchen bed. The chimney was also always in the gable and it was made of mortar and stones and sometimes bricks. Nearly every house ago had about 3 window
