- Long ago there lived a widow who had only one daughter. One day two men came to this woman's house that her husband owed to them. The woman would not give them any money.
So they went away but just as they were going away they saw the little girl outside in the garden. They brought her away with them and took her to their house and made her work for them.
The the poor widow found out that they were two robbers who had a big mansion in the forest and an old woman lived with them also. One day the two robbers went out plundering. They gave the little girl strict orders not to speak to anyone while they were away.
They were not long gone when a knock came to the door. The woman opened the door and asked them what was their trouble. They said that they went astray and if she would give them a shelter for the night that they would be very thankful and that the man(continues on next page)- Collector
