    and October are unlucky months to get married. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are unlucky days for marrying and the rest are lucky. Lots of matches are made in our district.
    Many people remember marriages taking place in the house of the bride. The priest of the parish used to come to the house and marry them.
    A wedding feast used to be held at the bride's house and strawboys used to come looking for food. They used to dress in rags and disguise their faces.
    The wives used to sit on horses with their husbands. All this used to happen about fifty years ago.
