- There was a match played in Araglen long ago between Ballysaggart and Araglen. There were fifteen men on each side. The Ballysaggart men won the match. The players at that time only wore their ordinary clothes when they were playing. I did not hear of kicking the ball across the country any time.
A big football was used in playing football and a small hard ball made from leather and packed with hair and corks was used in hurling. They made this ball themselves. The hurleys were like the hurleys they have at present.- Collector
