- There are a few holy wells in the parish of Clashmore. The one I am going to mention now is St. Brigid's Well.
This holy well in situated in one of Dr. Ronayne's fields about one hundred yards North of Mr. Power's house. On the evening of the 31st January or St. Brigid's Eve people visit this well to get some of the blessed water and to make 'rounds'.
Some of the blessed water is taken home and every person in the house drinks three cups of it. Long ago people left blue ribbons on a white thorn tree that is close to the well.
The old people said that the field in which St. Brigid's Well is was once ploughed. In the following morning all the sods were turned back again and this field was never ploughed since.- Collector
