There is another fairly big whitewashed house and one part of it was a barrack about fifty years ago.The land in Mainscourt is fertile and good for grazing. Most of it is owned by Mr Counihan and he rears many cattle and sheep there.

Mrs. Keely, Mainscourt,Ballyboghill, Co. Dublin. Aged 46yrs - The name of my home district is Bettyville which means a town. It was called Bettyville after a girls name Betty. Long ago a rich man lived in it and his daughters name was Betty. That is how it got its name.
