  2. About 1896 there was the usual fair in Palmerstown and another in Lucan about the year 1790. The one in Palmerstown was largely attended every month. It was usually held on the 19th of the month in Palmerstown and 7th in Lucan.

  3. There were three forges in Lucan about sixty years ago. Tom Cromers was beside the river Griffeen, beside the crossroad Mick Murray had his forge near the present guards barracks
