- Early on St.Stephens morning John Brennan and myself went after a wren, which we saw at the the Golf gate on a big stone. She was not able to fly very well, so we had not much trouble in catching her. Then we saw another boy that was going to the going to golf links, and we asked him if he would come with us, but he would not because he had to go to the golf links. Then he told us that he had a wren bush and could have it. So we got it and then we went from house to house singing this rhyme. The wren, the wren, the king of all birds.
St Stephens day she was caught in the furzes.
All though she was little her family was great.
Rise up young lady and give us a treat.
If your money is any way slack, give us a slice of Christmas cake.(continues on next page)- Collector
