A rabbit running along will put head through noose which will be torn from "tiller". The string attached to "bacan" will hold and the noose tightens around neck.
Rabbits are also caught in traps skilfully hidden on the paths they frequent. - "Síans" a small fish of the herring type are caught by children.

Bait. (1) "Fly" made of wool or feather.
(2) Worms dug in strand. Called "Lug" [sketch of lug worm]
Fluke and other flat fish are caught in the shallow channels or "déans" when the tide is out. Sometimes the fluke are caught on "Lug" bait. More often boys wade out into stream and spear the fish with a fork in the shallow water. Often a couple of dozen can be got this way in(continues on next page)
