- There was a man named John Mc Grath who used to go around selling various things. This day when he was in the townland of Letterilley he got very tired and the first house he came to he went in and asked lodgings for the night. He just saw a woman and a red haired girl. They said certainly they would keep him. At supper time he got his supper and the woman showed him his bed. He had just got into bed and was falling a sleep when he felt the red haired girl tumbling into bed behind him. Soon after the woman got in at the stock. Here he was lying in the middle of the two. The woman fastened him down by a chain. Says she you’ll not get stirring out of here until morning.
Morning came he got his breakfast and cleared. As he was leaving he looked back to see the appearance of the house but it had vanished. He went several times that way but the house never was to be seen again. It is understood that it was the fairie’s abode.- Collector
