Local Song - Glenmaquin
“There's a fertile spot of country”
There's a fertile spot of country
In the north of Donegal
And when its name I mention
Its familiar to you all
For I have seen it often
Yes, and sometimes in a dream
For there's nothing else I talk about
Than pretty Glenmaquin. You start up from your reverie
And looking all around.
You know its down at Mayfields
You hear that grating sound
He has started his steam engine
Or perhaps his saw-machine
And you know that engenuity
Abounds in GlanmaquinYou come then to the blacksmith's forge
And hear his bellows roar
And see the farmers' horses
All gathered round the door
For there's all accomodations
That ever you have seen
For the quiet happy farmers(continues on next page)- Collector
