    Lines written for Toothache.
Lines written by certain people were supposed to cure toothache. These 'lines' were to be carried about until the toothache went away, and were never to be read under any circumstances.
These "lines" or "charms" are still written in this district by Mrs Gallagher, Carnamaddy, Mrs Sweeney, Brockagh, Fred McClafferty, Derryheriff.
    Lines written to banish rats.
These "lines" written by certain people were left at the rat-holes. The rats immediately left and went to some place which was written on the "line". They were supposed to be sent to some place where there was lots of food.
Last person known to write this charm was an old man named McClafferty of Derryheriff.
    Other old Cures.
    3. A person who licked an "erc-slíabhe" could cure a burn by licking it.
    4. Biting a frog until he squealled three times
