  2. People used not wear shoes until they would be fifteen or sixteen. The children go bare-footed in the summer time. The people used to go barefooted summer and winter. The people get hot water in which to wash their feet. They put mustard in the water. The shoemakers made shoes in this district, and they mend shoes also. Shoemakers were more plentiful long ago than now. People used to wear clogs long ago. The clogs have wooden soles, they are much warmer than shoes.
