4. When you hear a donkey braying it is a sign of rain.
5. When the swallows fly low it is a sign of wet weather.
6. When there is wet weather the old people say the sky is down on the ground.
7. When there is good weather the hills look far away and when the hills look near there is wet weather.
Here is a little bit of poetry about the weather.
"Last night the sun went pale to bed,
The moon in hollow hide her head.
The boding shepherd heaves a sigh,
For see a rainbow spans the sky
Hark how the chair and tables crack,
Old Betty's joints are on the rack,
Loud quack the ducks, the peacocks cry.
The distant hills are looking nigh."The old people always say the north wind dries what it wets. The south wind brings most rain. When the old people see seagulls they say:-
"Seagull, seagull stay on the sand.
For we'll have no weather while you're on the land."
