There is an old tree beside us called the "Giants Tree". Here is a story which my grandfather told me about how this tree got its name.
When Ireland was covered with forest, there lived in a castle a giant. The ruins are still to be seen a half a mile away from us. This old giant had horns.
A little boy who lived by ran up to the castle and knocked, the old giant came out and the boy ran out into the forest.
As the giant chased after the little boy, he ran out into this old tree and his horns stuck in it. Then the boy killed the giant. You can see today the holes in which his horns were stuck, and that is how it got its name.
