When there are sharp long rays from the sun it is a sign of stormy weather.
A hallow round the moon is a sign of storms and bad weather.
When the stars are very bright it is a sign of frost and cold weather

Birds flying in towards the land are a sign of storm
Birds flying low are a sign of storm.
When the mountains seem near it is a sign of bad weather.

If you see them high on the hills you may be sure of a fine spell. When a storm is coming they are the first to know it. They come down from the hills then.
