- Long ago, in Moville, the people had wonderful cures for diseases. The whooping cough, which was a very dangerous disease, was quite common among children long ago. This is the cure they had.
The person with the whooping cough must pass three times under a donkey. Then the donkey got oaten meal and if it let any of the meal fall, the patient must eat it, or he would not be cured. Several people were cured of the whooping-cough in this way, 'tis said.- Collector
