If the sun sets like a ball of fire with a crimson sky it is the sign of good weather, but if it sets in a sky of coppers or yellowish tinge it is the sign of bad weather. The south west wind brings the most rain to this district. The north and east and north-east are the coldest winds winds and they bring frost and sleet and some times snow.
The north wind doth blow,
And we shall have snow. When the smoke from a chimney goes up straight it is the sign of good weather, but when it cannot rise quickly it is the sign of bad weather. When there are red clouds in the north west it is the sign of wind.- Collector
