- We once had a great long distance runner in Ireland named Pat White who lived in a place called Rescoll Donabate, Co Dublin
In 1905 he won the first "Herald" race from Tolka Bridge Drumcondra to Balbriggan a distance of 20 miles. The following year he again won the "Herald" race from Dublin to Navan. He also won the "Herald" race from Dublin to Nass. He went to America and ran in a six days race in which he finished second.
Before he turned professional he was one of our greatest cross-country runners.
He won numerous prizes at cross-country running and he also won large sums of money.- Collector
