- Warts- to come on a pool of water on a rock unexpectedly, and to wash the warts with the water. Other people put a piece of bacon in a dung hill, and believed that the warts would go when the bacon decayed. A more common cure was to tie a horse hair around the wart.
A pain in the stomach- to stand on your head in a bed and another person to shake you, and for a woman to hang from a door was believed to be a great cure.
Toothache- to rub pepper and bread soda on the gums.
Headache- to measure your head
Whooping cough- ferrets leavings or to ask a cure of a man with a white horse.
A pain in the ear- to put a little piece of an onion into it.
A sore throat- to leave half an onion on the throat and the cloth round it and it was supposed that when the juice penetrated the skin that the pain would go.
