About a quarter of a mile from the town of Dunmore there are the ruins of an old castle. There is a tradition that in the vicinity of this old castle there lies buried a valuable treasure which once belonged to Roderick O Connor.It was supposed that on each November's Eve a huge black cat appeared somewhere near the old Castle and that if a person would see him he would be able to discover where the treasure lies hidden.In former times there was a person living in Castlefarm who used to remain up on November's Eve to watch for the black cat to make his appearence.It was supposed that a band of men used to come from the south of Ireland in search of this hidden treasure.The men used to lie hidden near(continues on next page)- Informant
