- A few years ago we had a dash churn. It was made over seventy years ago by a monk that was in Mountbellew Monastery. He was a cooper by trade. I heard my mother say that it was a very good churn. The iron hoops gave way and broke, and then, the woodwork went asunder although it was sound and good.The next churn we got was a machine churn. We got it about seven years ago. It is giving way now, and calling for a new one, although it cost £2, and the dash churn cost only 5 shillings, and(continues on next page)
