- There are three graveyards in this parish. They are in Douras, Woodford and Gurthanna. They are all still in use. Gurthanna is round in shape. There is no church in any of them. They are all level. There are yew trees in Douras. There is a churchyard in Athanass for unbaptised children to be buried. It is said that a man died during the famine and was buried in this graveyard.
It is also said that a bell rings in Douras graveyard.
Local families still use certain graveyards though they are much further away than the parish graveyard.
Every Graveyard is facing the rising son.
All the crosses are made of iron.- Informant
