A Local Song
“This song was made by a man from Williamstown,”
This song was made by a man from Williamstown, Co. Clar after the "Black and Tans" shot the four young men on the Bridge of Killaloe.
This is the song:-I
This dreadful news through Ireland spread it rang
from shore to shore,
And such a deed no living being has ever heard
before,
Not even Cromwell in his time no worse deed
could he do,
For the 'tans incore[?] they murdered four young
youths in KillaloeII
Three of these four been on the 'run' they were
searched for here all 'round,
And with the hero Egan that morning they
were found,
They asked if he were on the 'run' to the
rebels he proved true
And because he would not sell his pass he
was shot in Killaloe.III
