    him to tell the son to come down and that they would have three games of cards. The father went home. He told his son the story. The boy went down to the witch. She told him that who-ever would get the first three games would have to do what the other one told him. The witch got the first three games. She told the boy to go back to the King of Italy and to ask him why he did not laugh for the last seven years. The boy told her to play three more games. She played the three games. The boy got the three games. He told the witch that she would have to go up on top of the highest tower in Galway. He promised to leave a pot of oats under him and that she would get nothing to eat only as the wind blew up this oats to her.
    The boy went to the King's palace in Italy. He met the King. He asked him why he did not laugh for the last seven years. The King told the boy that this was a secret he never revealed to anyone in his life. The boy promised not to tell the secret to anyone. The King told him that every day at twelve o'clock a
