After a number of years he got the poems published under the pen name of “Ben Cor.” In his old age he sold copies of them from door to door.
Francis Geraghty was also a teacher who lost his position because of mental affliction.
For the remainder of his life he made his living as a casual farm labourer working a month or so with one farmer and then going on to another.
He never accepted more than four pence a day together with his board and lodging and the grass of a sheep. The sheep was a pet which used to follow him from place to place. He was very devoted to this animal and used to feed it out of his hand several times a day.- Collector
