- A game which was played at wakes in olden times was 'horth."A row of men sat on the floor and a man went in the middle and one of them got a belt. He would give the man in the middle three lashes and say "horth" three times and then hide the belt. The man in the middle would then get up and try to get the belt.The man he got the belt from would then have to go into the middle. Another game which was played was slapping.
