- Once upon a time there lived a man and his wife who could never agree. The wife called her husband scissors because he was tall and thin.
This day they had a row and she continued calling him scissors. In the end he got very angry and he took her to a river close by. He dipped her in the water and said 'Now will you call me scissors'. and she answered 'scissors'. He dipped her down a second time and asked her the same question and she answered scissors. The third time he let her go with the stream and shouted 'Now will you call me scissors'. As she could not speak she held up her two fingers closing and opening them like a scissors. - Once a boy went to work with a farmer. They made the bargain before they started that which ever of them would get vexed first the other would get leave to beat him. The boy started to work and he had to plough all the ground that the farmer's(continues on next page)
