About a hundred yards from Largy school is a small farm house. About a hundred years ago a man named Bartley Rooney lived there with his wife and a servant boy. This servant boy always went home at night to his own home in Hebe.Bartley owned all the land in Largy. He was a hard-working man and kept many milch cows. He often received 200 gold sovereigns at Sligo market at Christmas time for butter. He was very hospitable and people came from miles around to stay at his house a night before a fair and they were always welcome to a supper and bed.
