- The Local fairs are held in Kiltyclogher, Ballaghameehan, and Manorhamilton. The fairs of Kiltyclogher and Manorhamilton are held in fair greens and the fair of Ballaghameehan is held on the street. Buyers transact business at cross-roads and at farmers houses. When an animal is sold luck is always given and toll is paid on cattle coming out of the fair green. It is fourpence a head. When a bargain is made the parties concerned show their agreement by striking hands. When an animal is sold, some people mark them with mud, others with paint and others tie a piece of string on the tail of the animal. When an animal is sold the halter is given away.
