- On 25th October 1839 a severe wind broke over the district of Ross. The wind was so severe that it blew water out of Lattoone Lough up on a hill. In the morning there were many kinds of fish found upon the hill. The wind also carried away stacks of corn, and also clothes that people had out to dry. When Nurse Stephen's was going to mass a sheet of zinc fell on her and killed her. There was also deep snow that covered houses and the people could'nt know whether it was night or day.
