“One day a woman left a child in the house and went out to tie oats...”
One day a woman left a child in the house and went out to tie oats. When she came in the child was crying, she cried every day from that on. On that day a travelling woman was passing by and got lodgings in this house. She told the woman that it was not her own child she had atall but a fairy because because she said every time she went out it played the bag-pipes. She said the best thing to do was to say she would burn her. This time when the child was crying the mother said she would burn her. She pulled out the fire to burn her and just then up the chimney in smoke went the child.- Collector
