One night Fr Ambrose Cassidy stayed at the home of Denis Loughlin, Clerhanmon. The yeoman arrived in the district. Mrs. Peyton (a protestant) knew of their arrival.
She stole out of her own house, by the window, and ran to Loughlin's house. She told the priest they were seeking him.
The priest ran from Loughlin's home down to Derinahera. The yeomen followed in "hot pursuit." They gave him "close chase." He hid himself in a "bunch" of briar bushes. The yeomen passed the spot. One soldier, however, saw him but, said nothing.
Some time, afterwards, he met Fr. Ambrose and told him he saw him on that occasion. Fr. Ambrose said that no person could have seen him on that occasion if he had not received the sacrament of the Baptism. Of course, the yeoman did not know. But, on hearing the priest's remark, he tried to discover if he were baptized. he went to the nurse that cared him when he(continues on next page)- Informant
