When the fairs were held in the fairgreen all the people used to pay a toll to get in.
Everybody who sells a beast gives what is called a "luck penny". When they make a bargain the buyer strikes the seller on the hand.
They usually brand the cattle with a branding iron, that is an iron with a wooden handle on which the initials of the owner are shaped. Some people also use raddle.
When horses are sold the seller gives the halter with him. A fair is held here once a month. The second Thursday of the month is for cattle sheep and horses and the last Thursday is for pigs.
