“In Ireland long ago the people used to say that there was such a man as the leipreacán and that this man used to be dressed in a red hat and green shoes.”
In Ireland long ago the people used to say that there was such a man as the leipreacán and that this man used to be dressed in a red hat and green shoes. It was also said that he lived in fort or some lonely place and that he had a pot of gold. Any person who found this leipreacán he would give them the pot of gold and he would make them so rich that they would not be in need of money as long as they lived. It is many a person that this leipreacán played tricks on. When the leipreacán would be talking to the person that would be trying to get the pot of gold from him he would say to the person. "Look at the big dog take care he does not bite you." THis was a trick the leipreacán had to try to make the person look back fo if the person looked back but one the leipreacán was gone and the person would be without the pot of gold. Needless to say at the present day you would not hear people say that there is any of them any more.- Collector
