The barking of the dogs brought the employer to the outhouse and the intruders ran away. When the reaping was finished this young man bought a spade in Kildare and was coming home to a village in the Co. Galway he put the spade on his shoulder and set off on his long journey home. Coming along a lone-some country road there were men working in a lime-kiln the men followed him and he ran and they kept running after him. At last he came to a cross-roads where he saw a house. He turned back and hit the man on the head with a spade when the other man saw that he ran back. He then went and reported the matter to the police who informed him that very
