    There was a respectable family lives in the county Roscommon who owned a large property.

The first night they slept in it the door was broken in and they were ordered to ceace work and go home and the Connaught men said that they would not and a fierce battle followed. The barking of the dogs brought the employer to the outhouse and the intruders ran away. When the reaping was finished this young man bought a spade in Kildare and was coming home to a village in the Co. Galway he put the spade on his shoulder and set off on his long journey home. Coming along a lone-some country road there were men working in a lime-kiln the men followed him and he ran and they kept running after him. At last he came to a cross-roads where he saw a house. He turned back and hit the man on the head with a spade when the other man saw that he ran back. He then went and reported the matter to the police who informed him that very
