- I live in the village of Ballymara. It is stituated about a mile from Milltown. A little river runs through the village. There are a few old ruins in the village. There is a lis in the village which is very ancient. It is there since the time of the Danes. It goes as far as Millbrook. I often heard fairy tales about that lis. Fairies were often seen there at night.
There is an old stone monument in a field in the village. It is built there in memory of a man named Hopkins who died there hundreds of years ago. The ruins of an old shoemakers shop are to be seen in the village also. Once upon a time three shoemakers called Killeens. They made and mended shoes.- Collector
