FortsThere is a fort in Sam Taylor's land of Funshinagh. The fort is ninty yards in circumference, and the greatest width is thirty yards. There are a number of white, thorn bushes growing round the fort, and there is a crab-tree growing on the edge of the bank. Not far from this fort is a wart well, and it is situated at the bottom of a tree facing the fort. Anyone that has warts and goes to this well, gets cured of them. There is one old gap leading into the fort. My father told me that the Danes lived in this fort in olden times. The reason they made this fort, and the big drain all round it, was to keep the wild animals from breaking in at them at night.
