- Once upon a time there lived men named Hudden, Dudden and Daniel ÓLaoghaire. Hudden and Dudden lived for themselves and Daniel lived in a house of his own. Hudden and Dudden used to be stealing Daniel's cows. One day when Daniel awoke he saw the skin of one of his cows on a bush. He got ready at once and set off to sell the skin. He put the skin around him and before he had gone far a Magpie lit on him and he caught her. When he arrived in the town he said to himself that he would go down the town for a drink. He went into this house and called for a pint of portor. He knew that in this house they used to keep three sorts of drink - bad, middling and good. So the shopkeeper came with the porter Daniel squeezed the Mag and she squealed then the shopkeeper asked "what is she saying?" and Daniel said "she is saying that is bad porter go back again," he went back and came again Daniel squeezed the Mag and the shopkeeper asked again "what is she saying?" and Daniel said "she is saying that is middling," so the shop-keeper went again and brought back the good porter Daniel squeezed the Mag a third(continues on next page)
