    but now they are equally prolific in large brown dock weeds. It was surrounded on all sides except the front by thick trees.
    There was also a high wall around Ballycloran with a large gate entrance. One of MacDermot's sons looked after the tenantry of Ballycloran.
    Captain Myles Ussher was D.I. at this time. He was stationed at Mohill, Co Leitrim and was keeping company with MacDermot's daughters Feemy. She loved him more that he loved her. This Captain Ussher was a protestant and was a native of Co Antrim. Feemy's brother Thady did not like the engagement as Ussher was a protestant and he also knew that Ussher would never marry his sister. Ussher was constantly at Ballycloran, he was in the habit of riding his horse from Mohill to Ballycloran.
    Father John McGrath was a priest in the parish of Drumsna. He went to Ballycloran where he met Feemy, he asked her not to marry
